Advanced Certificate in Sports Development & Soccer Coaching
This course has been designed to enable participants to advance their skills and gain higher level qualifications to work in the Soccer, Sport & Community sectors, or to progress to a range of Level 7 & 8 Sports & Recreation courses and sport science courses in the Institutes of Technology.
Enable participants to enhance and improve their existing sports skills. It has a practical content which is delivered by qualified soccer coaches and is designed to bring existing soccer skills to a very high standard as well as introducing students to a broad range of innovative coaching methods and sports administration & management skills.
GTI Soccer team participates in the Combined Colleges Soccer League which offers the opportunity to further develop and display skills learned during the course.

GTI has developed a style of teaching to meet the needs of a diverse community of learners.
This course is a progression from our Level 5 soccer skills course. It has a very high practical element on a daily basis. All soccer skills, coaching skills, exercise & fitness related activities will be carried out in the excellently resourced Mervue Utd football grounds in Galway City.
We make extensive use of advanced multimedia and internet based technologies to bring subject matter to life and to ensure effective learning.
GTI has invested in the most up-to-date sports performance analysis software. Gamebreaker Plus analysis package is widely used throughout the English premier league to enhance player performance and to aid in Coaching Analysis. GTI students will benefit first hand from this both in coaching practice and also in classroom based learning.
Whenever possible, we use a Learn-by-Doing approach to make the learning experience more realistic and enjoyable.
We provide learning supports that are tailored to the needs of individual learners.
Sports Development Level 6 students may have the opportunity to apply for a three week European Placement in Portugal in the 2012/2013 academic year (subject to funding through the Lifelong Learning Programme by Léargas). In March 2012, eleven students will spend three weeks working in Portugal.
- Successful completion of this Level 6 Award will allow graduates to apply to a range of Sport, Leisure, Health related courses in Higher Education. The most up-to-date information is located at the CAO website.
Graduates will be equipped with the necessary skills to work in professional/semi-professional soccer, Coaching, Health & Leisure Industry, Community Organisations, Club Administration etc.

This is a full-time one-year course and runs from September to May.
Full-time registered students of GTI may access a range of adult education courses at a reduced fee.
