Course Name - Continuation Yoga

Course Overview

This course is suitable for people who have completed the beginners Yoga course and who have a knowledge of preliminary postures including forward and backward bends, sideward stretches and Spinal twists and balance postures . Also a basic knowledge of Yogic breathing techniques and Yoga Nidra will be covered.

Course Content


This course will progress from basic physical postures up to the practice of Surya Namaskar (Salutation to the Sun) over the 10 week course in a systematic progression .


As well as developing strength through postures , there will be more awareness of breathing practices ( Pranayama ) to increase stillness of mind and body and to create more energy and strengthen the immune system.


The practice of Yoga Nidra ( guided meditation ) will continue going deeper and developing an awareness of the senses to help to take a step back from life and develop internal resources to deal with stresses of life.

Class Information

  • No food or drinks should be taken for 2 hours before class.
  • Loose comfortable clothing should be worn.
  • Bring a yoga mat/or blanket to lie on and a light cover to stay warm for meditation.
  • There will be some blankets supplied but you are welcome to bring your own.
  • There is a max of 12 people for this class.

Tutor Biography

Trish Connolly has been teaching in GTI for 13 years and as well as classes in other areas of Galway.

She trained with Galway Yoga in 2002/3 and has been teaching since then both in the city and the County. She teaches for Ability West in the area of disability and also for older people . She has also taught teenagers and children.
