Early Chilldhood Care and Education QQI Level Major Award Monday

Early Childhood Care and Education QQI Level 5 Award Code 5M2009

The Certificate in Early Childhood Care & Education QQI Level 5 is a major award made up of 8 modules and leads to a nationally recognized qualification for those wishing to pursue a career in Childcare. 6 of these modules are Compulsory and the other 2 modules can be made up from optional modules.

  • Early Childhood Education & Play 5N1773

Optional

  • Special Needs Assisting 5N1786
  • Approaches to Early Childhood Education 5N1763

Each module carries a value of 15 credits, giving a total of 120 credits for the full award. Entry Requirements Leaving Certificate or equivalent, or Mature students, or work experience in a relevant area in lieu of qualification together with a strong interest in the provision of quality care and education for children. 

Students are required to have Current GRETB Garda Vetting clearance. 

Students must obtain their own work placement in a registered setting. Students must have 80% attendance to be entered for certification. The following is the timetable for September 

September 2020 Modules

  • Monday - Child Health & Wellbeing 5N1765 - 21st Sept. 2020 6.30-9.00pm (Compulsory)
  • Tuesday / Wednesday - Special Needs Assisting QQI 5N1786 - 22nd / 23rd Sept 2020 7.00-10.00pm (Optional)
  • Wednesday - Child Development 5N1764 - 23rd Sept 2020 6.30-9.00pm (Compulsory)
  • Tuesday - Approaches to Early Childhood Education 5N1763  - 24rd Sept 2020 6.30-9.00pm (Optional)

January 2021 Modules to include the below and possibly others 

  • Early Care & Education Practice 5N1770 (Compulsory)
  • Early Childhood Education & Play 5N1773 (Compulsory)
  • Special Needs Assisting QQI 5N1786 (Optional)
  • Work Experience & Communications 5N1356 & 5N0690 - 22nd Sept. 2020 6.30-9.30pm (Compulsory)

Students must complete 60 hours of work placement in a Registered Setting (TUSLA) to attain the Work Experience module. Students must pass both sections of the Work Experience module In order to gain the final award (including work experience placement). Placement contact is required to complete course work in most modules.
