This one year Beauty Therapy course leads to an internationally recognised qualification in beauty therapy that will ensure you are educated to the highest industry standards so that you can take on this new and exciting career as well as providing you with the skills to set up a solid career in the Beauty Therapy. GTI prides itself on the success of POISE, its in-house beauty salon which is organised and managed by the students and teachers on this programme. It will set you up to work in a thriving and dynamic profession. The course provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills required for a career in the beauty industry. Students will be trained in a realistic / industry based work environment in the college's own salon 'Poise'. They will experience the regular operation of a salon, establishing professional contact with costumers and potential employers. Students complete professional certified training with Dermalogica Skincare, B Perfect Make-up and Lycon Waxing This course caters for school leavers and mature learners. It is an intense one year programme which requires a high level of commitment and enthusiasm. This is a full-time one-year course and runs from September to May.

Optional Modules Learners may also have the opportunity to study Maths as an extra module. Learners may also have the opportunity to take additional courses through GTI Adult and Part-Time Education in the following: * Spray Tan * Nail Extensions * Brow Course * Lash Extension Course * Make Up Artistry
Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied, or equivalent - preference will be given to students who have Biology / Science based subject at Leaving Certificate / Equivalent Level.

Students may gain entry to Third Level Institutes and Colleges through the Higher Education Links Scheme.
Successful completion of this Level 5 Award may allow learners to progress to the Diploma in Beauty and Body Specialist at GTI

Full-time registered students of GTI may access a range of adult education courses at a reduced fee.
Students may have the opportunity to apply for an Erasmus+ Placement during the academic year (subject to funding through the Lifelong Learning Programme by Léargas).

GTI offers courses that help students prepare for the real working world as many of the courses require students to complete a work experience module. This helps students to gain hands on experience. It is a friendly college where the teachers help students as much as possible with the work on the course.
The Beauty Therapy course requires students to do work experience in GTI's Poise Salon and also out house work experience in a salon or spa. This really helped me with improving my confidence with clients and to practice the treatments for the practical exams. The small class groups helped me to get to know my class mates and it gives the teachers a chance to help everyone. There are a lot of practical classes in the course which made it a lot more interesting for me. The course also includes Anatomy and Physiology and Business Studies modules.
The college advises on the many career choices after the Beauty Therapy course such as cruise ships, salons, spas. The course prepares you for any of these options.
