Hairdressing and Barbering Year 2 - Senior Trades - City and Guilds
This one-year full-time Hairdressing and Barbering Year 2 course will provide students with the opportunities to develop a range of practical skills and theoretical knowledge needed to work in this rewarding area of the hairdressing industry. City & Guilds learners can benefit from their qualifications in over 80 countries. They are widely accepted by employers around the world as the benchmark for workplace excellence and provide learners with the skills they need to succeed in today’s fast changing economic environment. A student who has achieved a QQI Level 5 Award and/or Junior Trades in Hairdressing in Year 1 or has relevant hairdressing experience, may qualify to enter Hairdressing Year 2 and study for Senior Trades & City & Guilds qualifications at GTI. Having completed Senior Trades, a graduate may enter the industry as a Senior Improver. This is a full-time one-year course and runs from September to May.

Certification in Senior Trades Examination (Department of Education & Skills) and City & Guilds Level 2 or 3.
Level 2 Diploma in Women’s and Men’s Hairdressing Registration for qualification with evolve.
A minimum of 50 credits is required to achieve the level 2 Diploma in Women’s and Men’s Hairdressing
All mandatory units must be achieved, which is 36 credits and a minimum of 14 credits from the optional units.
Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied, or equivalent

Full-time registered students of GTI may access a range of adult education courses at a reduced fee.
Students may be awarded the opportunity to participate in a 2 or 3 week fully funded European work placement as part of this course.
